Note from Nicole ~ Nobody Said It Would Be Easy

Following up on an hours-long conversation I had with a couple friends while walking through the park, I got this text:

Is there anyone out there who wouldn't agree that parenting is hard? How about "spousing?" And "humaning?" I know we all have different families, different struggles, and different circumstances but we can surely all raise our hands and admit that sometimes it's just plain hard.

Parenting toddlers is hard. So is parenting teenagers. Being a newlywed can be tricky. Keeping an "old" marriage fresh is also hard. Navigating middle school friendships is not for the faint of heart. Same with some adult friendships.

But thank goodness for the times and the people that make it feel possible, if not easy.

• An unexpected and heartfelt thank you from your kids.

• A date night that magically doesn't get derailed by sickness, babysitter issues, or bad weather and that does make you remember why you fell in love in the first place.

• And a long cold walk with friends who have told you their deepest darkest secrets, who don't judge you for yours, and who genuinely root for you in every area of your life.

In 2022, may your good days outnumber your bad days - in parenting, in spousing, and in humaning!
