Maryland Destination Review: Adventure Park USA

By: Debbie Newton

If you have not been to Adventure Park USA in Monrovia, MD you must check this out with the whole family!Adventure Park USA is Maryland’s largest family entertainment center located off I-70 before you reach Frederick, MD. This entertainment center provided fun for my entire family all day at a reasonable price.

Adventure Park USA has a variety of indoor and outdoor attractions. Current Ride and Play packages include unlimited use of rides and attractions with the exception of the Skycoaster where you free fall over 100ft in the air, and the gemstone mining station but both can be purchased for an additional fee. I suggest purchasing the Ride and Play Platinum package which includes an additional $25.00 credit per person towards the arcade and save an additional $3.00 per person by purchasing your tickets online.

The outdoor attractions consist of two Mini Rollercoasters, Go Karts, a Superslide, Scrambler, and the carnival classic Tilt-A-Whirl ride. There are five rides that cater to our 8 and under friends, and the whole family can enjoy the Carousel. Families can also choose from two different 18-hole mini golf courses. Be sure to pack sunscreen and a hat as there are limited areas to escape from the sun while enjoying outdoor attractions.

Indoor attractions include mini-bowling, which can be played by the entire family and all skill levels, a Hang’em High Ropes Course, and a Rock-climbing wall. Bumper Cars, Laser Tag, and XD-Theater attractions are also included with Ride-n-Play packages. There is a play center for those 8 and under, and everyone in the family can enjoy the arcade which is filled with Claw Machines, Virtual Reality games, Air Hockey, and plenty of arcade classics to entertain the entire family. Although most games individually cost $1.00 - $2.00 per play, some like virtual reality cost a bit more, so if available I would recommend purchasing a package that includes the arcade credit as it’s well worth it.

Although the park does not allow outside food or drink to be brought in, you can stop by the Whistle Stop Smokehouse which includes Smokehouse meats, pizza, hotdogs, sweets, and several kid's meal options. For those that would like to enjoy an adult beverage, stop by the Whistle Stop Salon where you can get a variety of tap beers, and cocktails.

Once your day is winding down you can tally your arcade tickets and exchange them for toys and trinkets. This park is a great place if you want the excitement of an amusement park but on a smaller scale. If you have not checked out this Maryland wonder, it should be a bucket list item for sure!! We're super excited to welcome local mom, Debbie, to our team of guest contributors! Debbie has a ton of fun adventuring throughout Maryland so it just makes sense that we should share her family's fun with you!
