Dry January Mocktail Recipes

By Katy Agro Myers

Full disclosure: I am not doing Dry January this year, but last year, my husband did Dry October, November, and December and so we experimented with a lot of different Mocktail recipes. There are a lot of cool products out there - alcohol free spirits, even mocktail subscription kits. We have sampled both Seedlip products and Soul Spirits kits. The fun is sometimes in the brainstorming and sampling of new things - not neccessarily the final result. Nevertheless, here are some of our favorites!

Blackberry Spritzer

Ingredients: fresh lime, mint leaves, blackberries, sparkling water, sugar

Directions: in lowball glass, muddle 1tsp sugar, juice of half a lime, mint leaves and 3 blackberries. Fill with ice and top with sparkling water.

Blueberry Lemonade Smash

Ingredients: fresh lemons, blueberries, honey, club soda

Directions: in highball glass, juice one lemon (and strain seeds), add 1/2 tsp of honey, hand full of blueberries and muddle. Fill glass with ice and top with sparkling water. (Favorite for this is LaCroix Limoncello water)

Sunrise Mocktail

Ingredients: orange juice, grenadine, sparkling water

Directions: in cocktail or wine glass, pour 2oz orange juice, 1/2 oz of grenadine, fill with ice and top with water. Garnish with orange slice and cherry.

Dry January doesn't have to be boring! Grab your drink umbrellas, favorite card game and get to sampling these mocktail recipes. Enjoy.
