AACPS Kindergarten Registration Begins April 5
By Nicole Donnelly
Kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year in Anne Arundel County Public Schools begins on April 5, 2022.
AACPS offers kindergarten programs in all elementary schools. Children must be five years old on or before September 1 to be eligible. Kindergarten is required for all students living in the state of Maryland. While Maryland law requires kindergarten attendance, it does give parents the right to delay kindergarten for one year (waiver).
Families are their children's first teachers. These resources provide families with suggestions for simple activities that parents and children can do together to develop children's skills. Additional Family Resources.
Steps to Take before Registering your Child for Kindergarten
1. Determine Student's Eligibility - Children must be five-years-old on or before September 1 to enroll in kindergarten.
2. Identify the school your Child will be Attending. To determine what the local school is for a specific address, check the School Assignment Locator or call The Planning Office at 410-439-5683.
3. Verify age, identity, residency, and immunization compliance: Parents/Legal Guardians registering their children in an Anne Arundel County Public School must provide proof of student's age, identity, county residency and immunizations, unless homeless. Additionally, immunizations must be up to date.
